Does the DelayAudio part really belong here?

No, I think it should be removed. Btw, I think it's nice if the following stuff is added: http://www.avisynth.org/ScriptExamples Of course, if you have other ideas for 'the first script' i'm all ears :) Wilbert 15:33, 26 January 2006 (EST)

The examples look good... though possibly there's a limit to how many different scripts we should put on a 'first script' page. (Above comment was mine -- apologies for forgetting to sign it.)--Clouded 06:37, 27 January 2006 (EST)

I really think that the way address mpeg usage is unorganized and confusing for a beginner. I think that you should introduce only the most basic concept and leave out the "but you should really use...". Also I think this page should state exactly how you open/use the avs file (or put is somewhere because I couldn't find it)

Thanks and great program!!

Ok, how about something for the TOTAL n00b. I downloaded Avisynth_257.exe, ran it, created the script here (making sure a valid AVI file named myclip.avi existed in the c:\folder directory), saved it to myclip.avs, opened it with WMP (after dialog boxes objected to this act) - and got nothing. Zip. Nada. No luck trying to open myclip.avs with VLC either.

The single line script mentioned in "Getting Started" (the command VERSION) didn't work either.

I'm obviously missing something, but I've read everything up to this point and don't have a clue as to what that might be.

I saw your Doom9 posting. I guess you were not using WMP6.4 as described in this article: You now have a script that can be opened by most AVI players in your machine: Windows Media Player 6.4 (aka "mplayer2") will play the script (...)
Btw, WMP9/10 should work to with some effort (see faq). I thought that for VLC you need a special build (but i'm not sure about that). Wilbert 11:01, 29 October 2008 (PDT)
